Cisco Linksys E1000 Router (review + Set Up)

Today (sep 21) I got this Cisco linksys router, Its a pretty good device for a wireless network at home. I live in a 3 floor house and it works everywhere just fine. It's not the fastest router out (actual its the slowest) but it gives you a great speed when you're using the internet or playing an iPod online game. The set up its really easy and fast to do but could be kind of complicated if you are a nob like i was this morning :S all the instructions are on the CD that comes with the device and it tells you all you need to know to setup you router.

The price on this router its not that hi but its not the cheapest thing you'll find in the market, if you want something useful, good quality, fast, and not that expensive this router might be the the best option. (I sounds like I'm trying to sell this thing to you. don't I? I'll Stop now.)
I will not tell you any prices because it can change but here is a link where you can buy it from. view Cisco Linksys e1000 Router

This is the exact same one as the one i have home. its a really thin router and the antenna its hidden inside the device. (pretty cool don't you think.)

NOW COMES THE IMPORTANT STUFF!!

How to set it Up?
  • What you need and you should all ready have.
    • A dsl or cable modem
    • The Linksys router
    • 2 ethernet cables
    • the dsl or cable modem power cable and the linksys router power cable
  • How to connect the devices
    1. Modem Connection
    2. By now you should already have a internet connection on your Computer (not wireless and not using the linksys router) here is a little example of how this is connected. you have your modem. you should have it connected to the power using your power cord that came with the modem, You should also have a ethernet cable that goes from your modem to your Computer.
    3. Linksys e1000 Router connection
    4. Now that you have done the fun part (unboxing your router) its time to connect it to start enjoying wireless internet at home.
      • First thing we need to do is to power up your device. in the box you should find the power cable, connect that and wait until the device is on.
      • Now that the device its on disconnect the ethernet cable from your computer and connect it to the router (make sure you connect the cable where its says internet and not any other one) (
      • The last step to take is to connect the other ethernet cable that came with the router and connect that cable to you computer and then to one of the plugins on the back of your router.
I really hope that was helpful and clear up your mind if you had any questions! if you still have one leave a comment and I'll get back to you as soon as I can.
